Kienbusch Cottage

Some people might consider the perfect escape from city life would be to spend vacation on a small island off the coast of Maine. If you think enjoying a peaceful, relaxing week with your family in a lovely, quaint summer cottage, a little ways away from the bustling attractions of Bar Harbor and Acadia National (but close enough enjoy the restaurants, shopping and outdoor activities) on an outer island, then Kienbusch Cottage is for you. Located on Great Cranberrry Island, a short ferry ride from either Northeast Harbor or Southwest Harbor (on Mount Desert Island), Kienbusch Cottage is a lovely family home on 2.5 acres, just a two minute walk to the shore, and a 5 minute walk to the town dock. Available to guests of the cottage is tennis court access, croquet gear, a few bikes to ride about on the Island, and a friendly neighborhood!

The cottage features 3 bedrooms: 2 queen bedrooms and a bedroom with 1 twin bed and a small double. There is one full bathroom (with tub and shower) and a 1/2 bath. There is a living room, dining room and kitchen. Amenities include washer/dryer, microwave, lots of "kitchen stuff", picnic table and charcoal grill. Sorry, no TV or internet (the local cafe, 2 minutes walk away, has WIFI), so bring those books and board games!

Great Cranberry Island has ferry access several times a day. There is a general store on the Island for groceries (groceries can also be delivered from Southwest Harbor and Northeast Harbor). The ride is about 30 minutes. In Southwest Harbor, the owner of Kienbusch Cottage has a private parking spot for guests. From both Southwest Harbor and Northeast Harbor you can catch the local, free Island Explorer Bus, that travels all over Mount Desert Island, including Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park
