Summit Road Cottage

Northeast Harbor has long been the favorite summer vacation destination of the wealthy and well-known. At the end of the 1800s many New Yorkers and Bostonians (the Rockefellers, Fords, Astors, Kennedys) came to Mount Desert Island, and specifically Northeast and Seal Harbors to spend their summers sailing and enjoying the lovely seasonal weather—a comfortable retreat from the hot, humid cities. Northeast Harbor is still the summer home for many prestigous families today. The summer community is both quaint and exclusive. Sailing, hiking, carriage road walking, tennis and golf are just some of the ways the summer residents pass their halcyon days in this idyllic world.

Summit Road Cottage is an old family cottage, available for monthly summer rental. It's just a 3 minute walk to the center of town, a five minute walk to the Harbor, and situated on a lovely quiet residential street. The cottage itself reminds you a bit of days gone by in this historic part of New England. The interior is old fashioned and sweet—a perfect home for a family to get back to a simpler way of life.

The 3-story cottage has 2 bedrooms (sleeps 5), with a 3rd floor attic room that sleeps one, living room with piano, full kitchen, and full dining room. 2 bathrooms (one upstairs with a wonderful old-fashioned tub; one in the basement level). The bedrooms have 1 queen bed, and 2 twins. There is also a sleep sofa for extra sleeping space. There is also a lovely outdoor porch and barbecue grill for enjoying the glorious Maine summer weather.

Amenities include BBQ grill, toaster oven, waffle iron, microwave, toaster and coffee maker.
